In honor of Betty

I’ve never been one to jump on a bandwagon. As a matter of fact, usually, if many people were doing something, I was hesitant to do it. I don’t want to be like the crowd. And these days, I’m proud of not being like the crowd. However, there is one thing I can jump on the proverbial bandwagon about, admiration of Betty White.

She did groundbreaking things and had many accomplishments. But from what I’ve heard and read about her, she didn’t necessarily do those things with that in mind. She did what was before her and did her best. In my mind, that is what provides groundbreaking moments, not looking for groundbreaking moments.

As a fan of old movies, I enjoy learning about stars from years past. But the thing about Betty is, she’s still a star. Of course, I didn’t know her personally, but she was strong, beautiful, smart, funny, genuine, courageous, and kind from all appearances. All these things combined with grace and a love of life…wow. Can I say I would like to be all this when I grow up?

Women these days have many role models, influencers. Should we strong women choose the best models?

I’m going to choose to be a cock-eyed optimist like Betty.
