Butter on Toast

This summer, I have been enjoying toast with a bit of butter and orange marmalade with my morning tea. It may have something to do with the fact that I read Paddington to my students this last year, but regardless, it is yummy.

As I spread the teeny bit of butter on the toast, because, you know, I can’t use a whole tablespoon, I always think of the Bilbo Baggins quote from the Lord of the Rings. “I feel thin, sort of stretched, like butter scraped over too much bread.”

He made that statement when he was feeling tired, perhaps stressed. He had had all he could handle and needed a rest. I’m sure we all know the feeling. There are times in life when we need rest. Sometimes that includes getting away from others; sometimes, it means a simple nap.

I hope you have the rest you need when you need it. I also hope you choose to read in some of those rests.

Many blessings.
