Never Forget Where You Came From

It’s been a while since I told you about myself. I have many new followers, so here I go…

My name is Rhonda. I am an overthinker, so I write. I write down things I’m thinking through, and most of those end up in the trash, but writing helps me organize my thoughts. I started that when I was young. Now, I write stories. My stories usually involve the main characters thinking and growing through something personal.

I am a country girl who has lived in many places and seen even more. My parents were teachers, and my father was an administrator. My father sang barbershop music with his beautiful Perry Como voice, and he led music at our church; my mother played the piano, and she knew how to make it dance.

The older I get, the prouder I am of my upbringing. I know they would be proud of the four books I’ve written. I’m a ‘retired’ teacher. I had always said I’d never do what they did, but, as it turns out, I was natural with kids, probably because they were so good. And what made them great was that they truly loved all the kids that came through their classrooms.

Their wisdom and insights are probably why I’m an overthinker. They weren’t perfect—no one is—but they loved perfectly, without restraint or conditions. There are times, many times, I’d love to talk to them.

Because of a life filled with love and great discussions, I like to write about love and growth. Since no person is perfect, I believe a great life is one in which the person continues to grow. And that is the wonderful thing about being a woman of a certain age…I’m more comfortable in my skin. I’ve heard it said that wouldn’t it be great if we could take the wisdom we’ve gained through life and go back and make different choices? But, if we did that, would we lose the wisdom we’ve gained through those choices?

I am putting the finishing touches on my latest work, HORSES, HAYSEEDS, AND HELLO GIRLS, a historical fiction about a WWI horse soldier. And as I finish it up, I’m looking at a new adventure, a series.

To my readers who love the thinking, growing, and loving in my books….if you have suggestions, I’d love to hear them.

Thank you for your support.
